Welcome to Yew and Me: a blog marking an exciting new chapter in my life!

After years of illness, I’m finally bursting out of hibernation — feeling healthier, stronger, and more energised than ever. Crafting a vibrant new life is no longer just a dream; it’s becoming my reality.

Join me as I share the ups and downs of this next chapter: the exhilarating experiences, the unexpected challenges, and the small everyday things that help me keep thriving and improving — one day at a time.

You might notice that I often use the term healing journey rather than recovery. That’s because recovery can feel like a final destination — a point where you’re “done.” Healing, on the other hand, is ongoing. I am constantly learning, improving, and adapting. This process takes work and careful management, and if it allows me to live fully beyond the walls of my home, that is a huge win. I can’t imagine a life without this mindful approach, and I never want to take my health for granted again.

I also feel uneasy with the word recovery because… when am I truly “recovered”? What does it even look like? From where I was a few years ago, I am enormously recovered. But from where I was before I fell ill, there is still a lot of recovering to do. And yet, I don’t want to go back to the person I was then — she didn’t take care of herself well at all. Instead, I’m focused on becoming a new, improved version of me: one who is very grateful for the health I have and determined to make the most of it.

So, why Yew and Me?

The yew tree (and its bench) in the photo above is my favourite spot for reflection and inspiration. If you recognise it, you’ll know just how special it is. I’ve spent countless quiet moments beneath its branches, meditating, daydreaming, and reconnecting with my authentic self. I hope this blog becomes a space like that — somewhere calm, honest, and a little magical. A space for both of us. Just Yew and Me.

You can also find me quietly exploring on Instagram, Reddit and Pinterest as Yew and Me — I’m still finding my rhythm over there, but feel free to say hello.
